In
my day, we wore a matching twinset and pearls to be within the realms of
fashionable. Now, anything goes. 'Oh yey, pattern mixing!' screamed our stylist
as she put florals with snakeskin and stripes with houndstooth. You might think
you could throw in anything but the dog's dinner, but oh no, even though it
gives a two-finger salute to any of the traditional style rules of old, this is
an acknowledged art.

Earlier this spring, Vince de Vera and I were fortunate enough to cover the Canada vs. France Davis Cup Tie for AXIS Magazine. For those of you who are not tennis nerds (as we are) the Davis Cup is a giant international team tennis tournament that extends over the whole year. Each tie (or matchup) in the tournament plays out over the course of an entire weekend. Southgate Unlocks a Life
Imagine winning a home and
having the financial freedom to shop at Southgate all the time. Swanning around
Crate & Barrel, Coach, Sephora... it would 'unlock your new life', wouldn't
it? This was the concept behind our latest campaign for Southgate.
First, we 'teased' Edmonton
with a 2-week promotion featuring a golden key placed on a sumptuous background
with the simple message: UNLOCK YOUR NEW LIFE. It was everywhere - on

We're in a creative profession. So we joke all the time about
our obsessiveness, and how that plays into our craft. But this artist Brian Dettmer is working on a whole
other level of patience, vision, and attention to detail.
Dettmer created these pieces by carving away old, out of
date dictionaries, encyclopedias, and textbooks. He did not insert, paint, or
add anything at all - only removed paper. The results are astounding. We all
